My Husband's Year of Fitness

My husband is an amazing man, hence the reason I married him right? Duh. He is supportive of me and my dreams, encourages me in every aspect of my life and is my biggest fan. He's always telling me how much he loves me and I often hear of him talking about me to other people. Well, now its my turn to brag about him and his motivation, his dedication, his strength just for a little while.

Its no question that weight has been an issue for J throughout his life. He has a big appetite, loves food, hates being hungry and quite honestly, has lived with a girl who eats like a slob (hangs head in shame) and maintains her weight. Over time he ended up putting on more weight than he would have liked, reaching his highest right around the time when we got engaged in 2011.

I hated that J felt the way he did about himself. It got to the point of dismissing some of my favorite engagement photo pictures, negative self-talk and just plain feeling crappy. I knew I would love him for the rest of our days, regardless of weight or hair loss or anything else that is physical but I wanted him to be confident in himself too.

Spurred by the upcoming wedding and a general down-feelings, he spent an entire year changing his life. Changes that aren't small either. Getting up at 4:30am (also known as the horrible-hour) to get in a cardio workout every single day before a full day of work. Then spending close to 2 hours each evening doing strength training. Counting calories of everything that went in his mouth and consistently being at a deficit. We're talking lifestyle changes here.

Now, one year later and 60+ lbs down he's done it.

The process was not easy, that's 100% sure. He pushed his body to it's limits, made sacrifices and to be honest, it even caused some tensions in our relationship. But it is all so worth it in the end. His attitude about life has changed. He is much more happy, has goals to push himself towards and is so much more healthy which can't be discredited at all.

J: I am so incredibly proud of you and your accomplishments in this huge moment in your life. I look at you each day, at the motivation and dedication you've shown me over the last year, and can't help but fall even more in love with you. I think you are the most handsome you've ever been and I know that this lifestyle change has given us both so much. I am so happy to be your wife, so honored to stand beside your buff self ;-) and so excited for all the years to come.

Tying the Knot: Into the Evening

As the night continued, so did the party. Being surrounded by such amazing people made the night so incredible. We laughed, cried, danced, sang, and celebrated until late into the evening. I was, and still am, shocked with how quickly the whole night (and day) went. Suddenly our ceremony was over, then we were sitting to eat dinner, then all the festivities (toasts, cake, bouquet, etc) were finished, then the time ticked by until it would all be finished.

As tradition with this group of guys continued, they all joined together towards the end of the evening in their ceremonial singing of Under the Bridge by Red Hot Chili Peppers. It's been going on since the first wedding of the group and it's so great to see such great friends as these guys. There was also an appearance of Gangnam Style and of course the great dance moves that come with it. My bridesmaids had some serious moves! We danced as husband and wife and enjoyed the whole night with all of our family and friends until it was suddenly time to go.

We ended the night with one last slow song, Then by Brad Paisley and as I found my new husband I couldn't help but be overwhelmed with emotions. The entire day had been perfect, everything I had ever dreamt of and I was officially J's Mrs! The love in the room at that moment was so special.

I looked around to our supportive families and amazing friends surrounding us and felt so immensely blessed.

Our wedding was over and our marriage had just begun. J and I headed to our hotel in a lovely town car after many hugs and well wishes from our guests feeling like we were on cloud nine. I still find myself wishing we could go back and do it all over again!

Tying the Knot: Photo Booth Take 2

Candid photos are some of my very favorite photos ever. Photos where you can be goofy, show your personality, that aren't too posed or formal. So during our reception J and I made a point to hit the photo booth ourselves quite a few times.

Both together and with our guests these photos show what a blast we had the whole night celebrating our new marriage,  the endless amounts of love we have for one another and the support we have from our favorite people.

Like our typical selves, J and I made sure to let all the fun and goofy out in these photos too which I absolutely love!

Tying the Knot: Photo Booth Take 1

I know I've mentioned it a thousand times already but we absolutely LOVED our photographer, Josh, of Ignite Images. He did some seriously amazing work with our wedding photographs and our package with him included so much. Our engagement session, a ton of hours on our actually wedding day, and one of my favorite parts, the Photo Booth.

So it wasn't a Photo Booth in the sense of going inside one of those little awkward booth/rooms and waiting anxiously for the camera to snap a series of pictures. It was a Photo Booth where Josh's wife stood in front of a colored background taking pictures with her actual camera of anyone interested. I loved that it was a way for our guests to get in some pictures that night since most of the wedding was focused on J & I, our wedding party, and our families and it'll be a great way to look back at who was there years down the road.

We decided against using any sort of props, feather boas, mustaches, the likes because we didn't want the pictures to be overwhelmed with "stuff" plus this way people's personalities were able to come out. Maybe it was spurred by some adult beverages but I think these pictures bring out the best in everyone!

Sick Day

No work for this lady today. I'm home nursing a pretty nasty sore throat, a killer headache and a body that just wants me to sleep all the time.

Yesterday I took a 2+ hour nap and then slept for 11 hours straight last night. I think my body is trying to tell me something. So instead of going in to work today I'll be hanging out at home. Here's the plan for today.

[+] Snuggles with my Ollie Pup
[+] Fruit smoothies to make my throat feel better. Along with some medicine of course.
[+] Possibly finishing The Paris Wife. If you're on Good Reads we should be friends!
[+] Plenty of tea drinking
[+] And probably many, many episodes of Once Upon A Time. We just got Netflix and I love this show.

So what's your cure for a bad sore throat? Any recommendations of new shows I need to watch?
